Finding Surf off the Italian Coast

The Northern Adriatic Sea, despite its muddiness and shallow waters, has given birth to the Italian surf community. The waves develop out of storms under a monochromatic sky and are rarely higher than two meters, which is why surfing a tube in these waters would be a miracle. This gloomy scenario led me to choose black and white film to represent the passion that keeps growing among the surfers despite the challenges of bad weather and low waves.

Location: Ravenna, Italy.
