Karpathos, Greece

This year we visited the beautiful Island Karpathos for the third time. It has become our summer get-away when the Dutch summer is too cold or too wet, which it usually is. This Greek island is located in the Aegean Sea between Crete and Rhodes, but is much smaller and quieter. You don’t get a lot of entertainment, just beautiful landscapes, friendly people and lovely food. We come here to relax, to enjoy the warmth and the sun, and to snorkel, as the underwater landscape is just as beautiful as that above ground.

All images were taken in and around Amoopi Bay with either a digital Leica M240 or film Leica M2 on Kodak Ektar 100 or Kodak Portra 400, except for the underwater photos which were captured with a Canon G7 X.

Aukje Kastelijn

Aukje started with photography a few years ago as an excuse to go outside and explore the world on her own without the usual dog or partner. It quickly became the other way around; she goes outside because she feels the need to create images, looking for gorgeous light and beautiful colours. Aukje posts her images regularly on her website www.whataukjesees.com.
