Old Fisherman’s Wharf and Cannery Row

This was a simple day trip to the coast for my family. My kids had never been to Monterey and we had a friend visiting from out of state that was staying nearby. Our son was diagnosed with Autism at 3 ½, before that we had a great difficulty taking him in crowded public places due to his sensitivity and overstimulation caused by noise and crowds (which we didn’t understand at the time). We weren’t sure how he would handle the trip, so we played it by ear. We took a stroll down to Old Fisherman’s Wharf where there were no crowds and talked to a couple of seals and then walked over to Cannery Row and of course made a stop at the beach so the kids could touch the freezing water.

I started learning about photography in a high school basic black and white photography class and haven’t stopped taking pictures since. I shoot both digital and film, but film feels more like “home” to me (plus editing is minimal). I am a stay at home Mom to two amazing little humans, Eric and Amelia, and wife to Stephen. Although I take on sessions from time to time my favorite thing to do is document my family during our everyday life- lots of candid, imperfect shots. We live in Kerman, CA.
